Friday, November 7 Psalm 130:1-131:3 HOPE IN THE LORD FOR EVERMORE O Israel put your hope in the Lord both now and for evermore. Psalm 131:3, NIV Many people pray and soon forget about the subject of their prayer. This is because their prayer points come from their lips and not from the heart. This was not the case with the psalmist in this passage. His prayer came from the depth of his heart. That was why he could cry passionately to God for help. A prayer that touches God’s heart is one that comes from the depth of the heart. However, one major hindrance to prayer is sin. This was why the psalmist said, “If you, O Lord, kept a record of sins, O Lord, who can stand? But with you there is forgiveness; …” (Psalm 130:3-4, NIV). Naturally, no human can approach the presence of God because of sin, but for the mercy of His forgiveness, which draws us to Him. Our hearts should not be proud and our eyes should not look with arrogance in the presence of God. The Lord cherishes humility and a dependent heart. Each time we go to the Lord, we should cleanse ourselves from anything that can hinder our relationship with Him. Do you have your hope fixed on the Lord? You may need to check the condition of your heart to be sure it is right with God. But, if your hope is fixed on Him, you can be sure that He would never let you down. • Birthday Blessing: “…He will remove the disgrace of His people from the earth.” Isa. 25:8b Read Bible Through Passage: Ezekiel 11-12; Hebrews 5. Don’t try to hold God’s hand, let Him hold yours. Let Him do the holding and you the trusting. - Hammer William
