Friday Romans 8 devotion from Seth: Hey Daniel, Romans 8:12-14 – 12 So then, brothers, we are not obligated to the flesh to live according to the flesh, 13 for if you live according to the flesh, you are going to die. But if by the Spirit you put to death the deeds of the body, you will live. 14 All those led by Gods Spirit are Gods sons. You owe the flesh nothing. You are no longer obligated to the flesh. Instead, we can be freely led by the Holy Spirit away from the sinful nature of our flesh. When we have the Holy Spirit we are no longer captivated by our flesh (not obligated to act on our sinful nature). This reminds me of a mime. If you see a mime on the sidewalk they are acting like they are inside a glass box and that they cannot get out. They even sometimes run up and act like they hit the wall. It seems dumb that he would keep acting like he is in a box even though we all know that is not true. We are set free by the Spirit from our sins. We have to let go of the glass box and move towards the life in the Holy Spirit. Life in the Holy Spirit? Being adopted as children of God.
