Friday afternoon, August 1, 2014 I closed my counseling practice. For nearly 20 years my counseling specialty has been with violent offenders, some of whom were criminally insane while others were just poor miserable souls needing guidance and life structure. What am I doing for the next phase of my professional life? Well, I am returning to full-time church work. I continue with those three loving Churches down in Dinwiddie County and I will begin my part-time work as Director of Congregational Excellence for the James River District. In this new position, I am to mentor clergy and help revitalize the congregations on the District. It was thought my training and past counseling experiences would be quite an asset for this newly created position. In reflecting on this momentous change; it came to mind the difference between a terrorist and a church organist. You can negotiate with a terrorist.
