Friday in Austin at the State Capitol Steps - 12:00 Noon: We will be participating in a Rally in front of our State Capitol for Daniel Villegas, who has been in prison for 18 years. Daniel is waiting for the Texas Court of Criminal Appeals to rule on El Paso District Judge’s Sam Medrano recommendation for a new trial which was filed on August 16th 2012. Among those attending will be former El Paso Mayor John Cook and Kristin Houle, Executive Director of Texas Coalition to Abolish the Death Penalty, also Anthony Graves and Juan Melendez who both served 18 years for crimes they did not commit. Chris Ochoa, convicted in Austin Texas and exonerated after 13 years will also be at the Rally.
