#FridayFlashback July 1, 1992: 21 years ago we toured Vancouver Island and played with Helix at a bar in a hotel in Victoria. I remember we got to the bar to set up looking for the bar manager and the bartender said that he died of overdose just that morning. The weirdness of the road gig started from there. We fronted the guys and we partied after the show. Pretty much everyone didnt get sleep at all. Met Paul Hackman and the rest of the band and crew that night. Everyone left the room after to pack and hit the ferry the next day. The band stayed in Vancouver and Helix to continue on the road to drive back east. By 2 PM on the way to the recording studio when we heard on the radio that Helix was in a car accident out in Lilloet killing Paul. Apparently their driver fell asleep behind the wheel or so they say. It was shocking to the band. It was a very sad day for everyone. RIP Paul Hackman.
