Barnum’s American Museum in New York of 1865, about human appetites and longings, and what it means to be profoundly unique. Transformation won the San Diego Book Award for Historic Fiction, 2010, and was shortlisted for Great Britain’s Historic Writers Association’s Début Novel in 2012. It was selected Indie Pick of the Month, Notable, in July 2010, and Book-of-the-Month Club Alternative, 2010. Ellen earned her BA in English from Columbia University and her MA in creative writing from Johns Hopkins University in Washington, DC. * Luisa A. Iglorias books include Ode to the Heart Smaller than a Pencil Eraser (2014 May Swenson Prize), Night Willow: Prose Poems (Phoenicia Publishing, Montreal, June 2014 phoeniciapublishing/night-willow.html ), The Saints of Streets (2013), Juan Lunas Revolver (2009 Ernest Sandeen Prize, UND Press), Trill & Mordent (WordTech Editions, 2005), and 8 other books. Luisa has degrees from the University of the Philippines, Ateneo de Manila University, and the University of Illinois at Chicago, where she was a Fulbright Fellow from 1992-1995. She currently directs the MFA Creative Writing Program at Old Dominion University. She enjoys cooking with her family, book-binding, and listening to tango music. She has held resident fellowships at MacDowell, Yaddo, VCCA, and Dorland, received an MFA from Columbia University on fellowship, and currently teaches at San Diego Mesa College.
