Friends. I am the Thrive Ice Cream Ambassador and in that role, hear a lot of great stories about Thrive helping folks who have trouble swallowing or eating. Read this testimonial that we received a couple of days ago then consider voting for Thrive. We have made it to the second round and with your help, could be finalists!! "I was introduced to the product Thrive, at a conference in Orlando. Being a Gerontological certified nurse, I immediately recognized the many facets in which this product would be beneficial in working with the elderly population, especially those cognitively impaired. I decided to use one of my advanced dementia clients as a test case. Mrs. L is 89 and resides in a locked memory impaired assisted living facility. Over the years her dementia has progressed to the point where she no longer remembers any of her family and although verbal, her words are jumbled and her phrases are often described as word salad. She no loner recalls what a fork, knife or spoon are for and is easily distracted when being assisted with the use of any of these utensils. Due to her declining weight I decided to try Thrive as a supplement. I was already aware of her love for ice cream. At first she was fed by the staff the chocolate flavor. She ate with no resistance every last bite. I then came up with the idea of introducing to her an old fashioned wooden spoon, (the kind the “Good Humor” man gave out when he would sell ice cream from his truck.) As I sat down at the table with her, I peeled back the paper wrapping and gave it to her. Her long term memory was sparked and she seemed to immediately remember what the wooden spoon was for……she began to eat the ice cream by herself. " Deborah Barfield,RNC,CMC 10/06/2013
