Friends: Id be super-grateful if you heard me out. Many of you know that the last two days of the year are the most important two days for any non-profit. Here is my case for why Vegan Outreach is worthy of your donation: 1) We rock the leaflet. In 2014, over 2.5 million of today’s youth were handed a Vegan Outreach booklet. In the fall semester alone, we reached one million students in a single semester. 2) Person-to-person outreach matters. When someone receives a booklet from us, not only do they learn about the plight of farmed animals, they see that this is a social issue important enough to get someone out in the scorching sun or the bitter cold. And giving the general public thousands of daily interactions with friendly and positive animal activists helps humanize our movement. 3) We build up an army of animal advocates. For so many, leafleting with Vegan Outreach is their first foray into animal advocacy. 4) We’re expanding internationally, bringing our pragmatic form of advocacy to the rest of the world. In 2014, we hired our first Australia and Canada Outreach Coordinators. In January 2015, our first Mexico OC will begin. Where else we go in 2015 is up to you. 5) We’ve been kicking ass with social media. Thanks to John Oberg, in 2014, we quadrupled our number of Facebook followers, getting sky-high engagement, often reaching literally millions in a single week. 6) We hire top talent: Victor Sjodin, Kassy Ortega, and I’m just getting started. 7) We’re a team player. We provide free literature to other groups, we connect other groups with our network of activists. Sometimes we’re too unassuming and giving, but we see this as in the animals’ best interests. 8) Farm animals matter. And for the last 20 years, we at Vegan Outreach have put them front and center in our humble, persistent, and effective work. All donations given before tomorrow at midnight will be doubled by a pool of generous donors. Thank you for reading and considering. And thanks to all of you who support this important work!
