PROGRAMME OFFICER (PO) ORGANIZATION: South Asian Microfinance Network (SAMN) The South Asian Microfinance Network (SAMN) is a regional association working to enhance financial inclusion among low-income groups in the region. SAMN achieves this by improving knowledge, business environment, and capital flows for the microfinance industry across six countries in the region, namely: Afghanistan, Bangladesh, India, Nepal, Pakistan, and Sri Lanka. JOB DESCRIPTION The primary responsibilities of the PO are described below: 1. Assist with Developing and Maintaining SAMN Knowledge Hub • Conduct research (primary and secondary) on microfinance sector in the South Asia region • Assist with authoring and publishing South Asia report on financial inclusion • Develop bi-monthly news updates • Manage and oversee SAMN website • Oversee SAMN research publications 2. Managing Events • Conceptualize Round Tables and Policy Dialogues to o Support advocacy function for an enabling environment and regional knowledge sharing o Disseminate findings of research studies • Work in close collaboration with relevant SAMN staff to plan and manage events 3. Networking • Maintain relations with Strategic Partners, Members, and other stakeholders • Represent SAMN at local and international forums, as required 4. Management • Liaison with consultants • Manage the SAMN membership process • Participate in Strategic Planning exercises for SAMN • Support ED SAMN in day-to-day operational management Any other work that is deemed necessary by the organisation from time-to-time. WHO SHOULD APPLY? Education and Experience • The candidate should possess a Bachelors degree in Business, Economics, Development Finance, Development Studies or a related field from a reputable institution • The position requires at least 2 years of experience in research, preferably in the development or financial sector • Familiarity with microfinance is preferred Other Skills • The position involves extensive writing thus the candidate must possess excellent writing skills.
