Friends! Today, Ive reached 50,000 likes on this page. The gravity of this does not escape me, and I feel exceptionally grateful that every person who has liked this page has seen something in me or in my work to warrant their liking this page. One of the things that has really warmed my heart over my time having this page is how people are so eager to learn more about me and about what I do. With that in mind, before I post another poem, I wanted to post something else to commemorate the 50,000 likes mark. I wanted to let you all know a little bit more about me and why I do what I do. Typically, I have chosen to do this in one of the more bizarre ways possible. Here it is, a letter written to myself as a means for me to communicate to all of you. Thank-you to everyone who has liked this page, thank-you from the bottom of my heart. ** Dear James, 50,000 likes. Wow, remember when you started this page and you thought youd be lucky to even get 1000? Yeah, you werent sure what to expect back then, I know. But, deep down, you always knew what you wanted. Its not money, beyond one day being able to provide for and help your family and people worse off than you, money doesnt motivate you. At all. Is it fame? No, I mean sure you want to be successful in your field, and I suppose some semblance of fame might come with that, but it doesnt drive you. It never has and you know it likely never will. So what is it then? What motivates you? Its pretty simple, really. You want to do what you love, and love what you do. You want to reach people, to touch their hearts, speak to their souls. You want your art to have life, and to give life. To matter. And, 50k or not, youve barely begun to scratch the surface of this. You still have a vision, the artist still lingers within. Your screenplays remain largely unseen and exist as some of your strongest works, many unseen poems remain, your paintings too remain unseen by public eye, your poetry book has yet to materialise fully. There is a lot to come, a lot to be excited for. Youre working so hard to achieve your goals, so hard that sometimes things feel like theyre getting on top of you. Its not easy, it never will be. But let this latest achievement, this 50k, show you something: Youre not alone. Youre doing it. People believe in you, in one way or another, and you will reward their belief. Youre working to reward their belief. And you wont stop until you do reward their belief. You cant. Because you believe too. In your work, in your vision. You still believe. So, 50k and whats the most important thing? Believe in yourself every day, so others can believe in you too. Even when its hard, and it gets hard - believe. Good luck James, good luck and keep dreaming. With great hope, Your own damn self.
