This ground-breaking conference builds on the ‘2013 Chiquibul Symposium’ which was held in Belize. It will look at practical solutions to serious and sustained threats to one of the world’s key areas of bio-diversity in the context of the illegal and increasingly-organized cross-border exploitation of pristine river and forest reserves, and of vulnerable wildlife and of mineral resources – all critical for Belize and broader Mesoamerica. Expect discussions on environmental research across Belize. You also will be invited to examine the reality of the Chiquibul National Reserve under siege and you will hear proposals from environmentalists and officials working on the ground to counter this exploitation.
