Friends and family. Our ancestral family blood lines are well - TopicsExpress

Friends and family. Our ancestral family blood lines are well represented among currently enrolled members, in a wide range of reservations, and tribal affiliations, thru out Canada, and North America. Our ancestors had several habits which resulted in retaining blood lines, within families, and tribes Metis people (mixed bloods) were hunters, tradesmen, guides, and also engaged in political activism, and scholarship. The result was that they were an integral part of life, across a wide range of activities, and political government activities. My GGG grandfather Hon. Joesph Bourette was the first mayor of Montreal Provence of Quebec, Canada. He was Metis, and he was a man of letters. This is typical of Metis people. My GG grandfather Jean Baptiste Paul Frederick married his daughter Josephte Chipmink Bourette, their 12 children married other Metis people beginning the diaspora of Frederick family members among various tribes, and other Metis families. All my grand parental lines are native, and Metis. I am a pure 100% Metis man. Our Ouelette grand parental line includes Metis who were heavily involved in the 1885 Metis uprising led by Louis David Riel. My GGG grandfather Joseph Ouelette age 93 years 1805-1885 died in the battle if Batoche, fighting with Louis Riel, and general Dumont. His descendants were among the Metis hunters who went to Montana and with the other Metis hunters founded the communities that are today the descendants of Riel, Dumont, Oulette, Charette, Paul, Monette Belheumor, and other Metis natives, who pioneered settlement in the wilds of Montana. These families live among the Crow, and other tribes in Montana. They are also among the landless Chippewa Little Shells Pembina Chippewa band, who abandoned Pembina North Dakota after refusing to sign the 10 cent treaty, relinquishing their ancestral lands in the Red River valley. Any North American tribe that has our family names among their enrolled members, also has our family blood. The long standing practice of ethnic cleansing aka assimilation, has created entire populations of native people, walking among the Shaganaashe. My work is educating people about our history, and clearly shows how an Anishnaabe Inini (Chippewa man) like myself, can be made invisible in the society of the Shaganaashe (English) Good work will reverse the trend that has caused the fragmentation of tribal affiliations, and broken the bonds of families for the last 500 years. We are still here despite the attempted Genocide.
