A draft permit has been prepared and NOW is the time to send your comments/concerns to TCEQ and request a public hearing. Deadline for letters is August 30th. See sample letters below to use as a guideline. ***** Doug Miller, our state representative, has sent a letter to TCEQ requesting a Public Hearing in order to provide a public forum for the residents to speak and influence the evaluation of the WWTP permit application. Attendance at the Public Hearing will be crucial. The date and time of the hearing will be posted on this website. Due to the nature of the topography in this area, there is likely to be a significant introduction of high nutrient levels into our groundwater system if the level of treatment is not sufficient. The overriding concern is the significant negative impact that this facility will have on our drinking water as well as possible surface contamination due to run-off. As a group we are requesting that a thorough study of cave and karst features be completed to determine the areas potential vulnerability to groundwater contamination before any final decision is made on this particular TCEQ permit application. The geology in this particular area is quite complex. To our knowledge no such study has been completed. How a decision can be made without this information is unclear to us. However, we are hopeful that we can raise issues of concern at a public meeting so that TCEQ has the opportunity to adequately address our concerns and protect our water quality. savefairoaksranch.org/index.php/action
