Friends, family, and everyone else... hear me out. Hear what I - TopicsExpress

Friends, family, and everyone else... hear me out. Hear what I have to say (read what I have typed) With the recent goings-on in ferguson and new york, there has been much turmoil and violence in response to the actions of law enforcement with the suspects they encountered. Two men are dead, one officers career is over, and anothers just may end up the same way.. families have lost loved ones.. its all a big deal. In ferguson, the facts are rolling in on the man who was shot, and it looks like he played a significant part in what lead up to him being shot (more than what a lot of people want to consider).. I dont think it was about race.. In new york, the whole incident was video taped.. the man resisted, but not with violence. He simply resisted being arrested, and he paid with his life.. I dont think it was about race either.. Theres been an outpouring of emotion, and theres been protests and theres been violence. #blacklivesmatter is whats trending on twitter. All lives matter.. all lives f**ng matter equally. I feel like there is a bigger problem, and its not racism.. It isnt with all police officers. It isnt with the majority of officers. I know several police officers personally.. one of my good friends father is a police officer and he is one of the most nicest people I know.. I have a police officer in my family who is also a kind person. I work with law enforcement every day and they seem like good people. So this bullshit rhetoric of all cops are bad has to go as well... But there is a problem with some law enforcement, where they will use lethal force at the first sign of resistance, or opposition, or even disrespect.. they will let loose their rage and they will prove to you that they are in charge and they will hurt you or worse. perhaps its lack of training? Perhaps theres a call for better screening for police officers. But whatever it is, there is a problem that affects us. People who do not deserve to die are being killed. Kelly Thomas was a mentally ill man, murdered by police officers. It was all caught on tape, and Ive included the link. I work with folks like Kelly every single day.. while working in an acute psych hospital, I have had to go hands-on along with other staff and detain men who were violent, thrashing and lashing out looking to hurt others (or sometimes themselves) not because they were bad people but because they were symptomatic and a danger to themselves or others. I have never had to hit or strike or intentionally cause pain to another individual during this process... I have never had to hit or strike or intentionally cause pain to another individual during this process.. I have never had to hit or strike or intentionally cause pain to another individual during this process, even when my own safety was at risk.. even after being hit over and over again by a man much larger and stronger than myself. I have never had to hit back or strike back or cause pain to another person.. Kelly Thomas face bones were smashed in. He was bludgeoned to death. With bare hands and flashlights and the butt of a tasergun he was beaten to death. Its all on video. His crime? Being mentally ill. He never hit one of these officers. He never caused any of them physical pain. Dont believe me? Watch the video. He was beaten and laid in a pool of his own blood while he cried out for his daddy. You can hear his voice change from fear to dying and desperation as he cries out for his daddy.. Ive included the link because I believe people need to see it. Especially those of you who dont want to watch it. I didnt want to watch it, but I felt I had to. I wiped tears off the screen of my phone as I watched. Dont stick your head in the sand and hum theres nothing to see here. Dont continue the equally bullshit notion that there isnt a problem. Otherwise youre part of the problem. #AllLivesMatter
