Friends, family...lend me your thoughts about this religious topic. A friend lied to me. A very miniscule lie, but a lie nonetheless. This is a very religious friend I have, so I asked him Do you follow the 10 commandments? To which he did not reply. This was a typed skype conversation, mind you. So before I logged off, I pulled out Thou shalt not bear false witness against thy neighbour. Exodus 20:16. He then replied with For verily I say unto you, Till heaven and earth pass, one jot or one tittle shall in no wise pass from the law, till all be fulfilled. Matthew 5:18. From there, it got into repentance. I asked if he was going to say sorry for lying to me. He would not. Repentance requires to ask forgiveness from the Lord. No where in the scriptures does it say you must ask for forgiveness from the one offended. So, what I get from this is...I can sin against you all I want, as long as I ask forgiveness from the Lord, Ill be saved. Thoughts?
