Friends of Bangladesh versus politics of Bangladesh No sign of the development of political impasse of Bangladesh can be sighted. The cumulus from the sky of Bangladeshs politics cannot be dissipated easily. Sheik Hasina is obstinate with her stand. She wont give in to the demand of whole nation. Where loss is inevitable so, why should she restore the election time government that will obviously propel her arch rival in power? But she has to go or will be compelled to go. How Sheik Hasina has to go or how she has to be driven out from the power has bee the crux point of the politics in these days. She doesnt want to forsake the soft, delicate and lucrative touch of power. She, therefore , has amended the constitution as per her wishful thinking. And showing the pretext of that amended constitution she is now maddened to retain the power forever. She is, on one hand. Speaking for dialogue but, on the other roaring to hold the election according to constitution. Hold dialogue! Hold dialogue! This is now a much uttered term in the country though most of the people of the country are pessimistic about the result of dialogue as it yielded no positive consequence but negative in the near past. The urge of dialogue is being given by many quarters ranging from UN, USA , UK, Chin, india to countrys business people, civil society, etc. They are impulsing both government and opposition to hold meaningful dialogue for finding out a way that will ensure the free, fair, credible, and participatory general election forthcoming. But ear-handicapped sheik Hasina is giving no attention towards their impulsion. BNP is enthusiastic to hold a dialogue and hence its Secretary General has dispatched a letter, underlining his partys keen interest about dialogue, to the general secretary of Awami league. But the general secretary of Awami league has yet to reply that letter though he telephoned his counter part acknowledging the letter and he also informed BNP Secretary General that he would discuss with premier over that in the helicopter on the way to Dinajpur. This proves, Awami league dont care for dialogue because it want Bangladesh to transform into a country like Afghanistan, Iraq, or Libya. Tuesday party is no longer exists in Bangladesh. It was formed in 2006 aiming at to bring about the emanation of third force in the politics of Bangladesh and successfully completed its mission seating Fakhrudin, the black sheep and Monudin, the bastard, in power. This party did that to secure a participatory and acceptable general poll which was about to hold in participation of all party, but couldnt be. However, people of the country welcomed them in the beginning. But that third force couldnt sustain more than two years as it got involved with anti-people, anti-state activities and even in corruption. Therefore, it had to turn tail proving the eternal truth that the third force was not eligible to run a country other than political party. Third force is a force that serves interests of third party. Bangladesh has many friends. Those friendly countries of Bangladesh are concerned about its current political situation. There are rational reason to be concerned as they are the development partner of Bangladesh. It is being heard the diplomats from those friendly country of Bangladesh have formed a club styled friends of Bangladesh to play a role in defusing political crisis. We do welcome them going against our conscience and hoping a healthy political atmosphere. This friend club is the renovated and refined edition of Tuesday party that interfered with the general poll, that was supposed to be held in January 22, 2007, and frustrated the election in the pretext of one-sided and non-participatory. Well, coincidently or manipulatively Bangladesh is on the verge of facing the same situation of 2006. Then Tuesday party save Bangladesh from the indispensable pandemonium. This time, Therefore, friends of Bangladesh will have to come forward to baffle any attempt of holding exparte poll that Hasina dreams of executing. This is not the duty of those friends. This is time for them to clear of the impediments, that Hasina has attached , from the path of democracy and to show off their democratic perseverance. The day of poll has approached. But still it is undecided how the election will be held. Governments treatment and deportment are telling us the next general election is going to be held under party government. But we think Hasina cannot hold the election since Bangladeshs friends including India are displeased with Hasina because of her anti-democratic stand. Above all, harbouring Islamist militancy and Indian separatism issue do remain. Bangladeshs politics is largely influenced by the foreign influential countries. We are abiding by this rude reality despite being ignominious for us. Awamileague is mainly responsible for this. It is Awami league which had the blame motion passed against Bangladesh in EU parliament by appointing lobbyists sometime between 2001 and 2006 the last tenure of BNP. Moreover, we have yet to forget that Awami minister who was also an bureaucrat asked UN to stop assisting Bangladesh and take stern action against Bangladesh. To our pleasure, BNP didnt walk along with the same path followed by Awami league to go to power. This year opposition leader wrote an article published on the Washington Times entitling A thankless role in saving democracy in Bangladesh. She wrote that article delineating Bangladeshs politico-socio-economic condition. But, Awami knowledge abusers, be they Awami leaders or Awami intellectuals, are saying that Begum Khaleda Zia has urged foreigners to stop financing Bangladesh and to stop or withdraw foreign investment in or from Bangladesh. In her article there wasnt a single sentence that testifies she had asked US and its allies to stop financing Bangladesh or to withdraw the foreign investment. She wrote ......where the United States may be accused of standing idle while democracy in Bangladesh is undermined and its economic allegiance shifts towards other growing world power........ That means she expressed her profound apprehension about Bangladeshs economic condition as foreign investors ( economic allegiance ) are shifting from Bangladesh to others country. America is committed to democracy and it is trying heart and soul to democratise the whole world so she has reminded America to continue its role as to the Bangladeshs moribund democracy. She also wrote ...the United States and its allies, such as Great Britain , heve the influence to persist that a caretaker government is instituted so the view of the voters are respected To ensure this, their words and action must be much stronger , to keep Bangladesh from slipping away from democracy....... Here, she has laid stress on democracy. Bangladeshs democracy has been jeopardised by abrogating caretaker government system. America and Great Britain can influence or persuade ruling party (Awami league) to introduce (institute) this system. America and GreatBritain should be strict in this issue (caretaker govt) so that Bangladesh cannot be dropped out from the democratic process. Whats wrong there? Infect, Awami leaders and intellectuals misinterpreted Begum Zias writing ill-motivatedly (for political reason) or they did so because of their language constraint. Hopefully, we look ahead to see those friends of Bangladesh are indeed friends of Bangladesh. So they have to play a dashing role for holding free, fair, and credible election for the interest of democracy, people, and Bangladesh. We live in a global village. Bangladesh is a part of this village. Therefore, it is not acceptable that one part of this global village will go through the democratic process while other part of this villagess democracy (Bangladeshs democracy) will be strangulated to death.
