Friends of KC Animals just received a plea for help from a very, very nice man who cares tremendously for his nine year old cat. If anyone would be willing to temporarily foster the cat, please comment here or email [email protected] Thank you - I can barely write this letter. My eyes wont stop watering because I am very sad and I hope you can help me. Nine years ago on the coldest night of the year in the dead of winter, I went outside to find what I thought was a black glove on the ground. To my surprise, it was a tiny kitten, under a month old. She was literally almost frozen to death unable to move her arms or legs. I brought her inside to warm her up and have cared for her ever since. I recently broke my arm very badly, and it will be in a cast for several months. I am alone, 60 years old and cannot work thanks to having an embolism and losing much of my short term memory ability. I have no money at all and am close to being homeless. I filed for social security/disability two months ago and the attorney feels confident that I will be approved in January. He said, if so, I will start receiving funds in February. If soon homeless, (as I await these funds), I will have to carry her around in a box. This is no way to raise a cat, but I will not give her up to be killed. We will find a bridge before I do that. I am hoping someone may be able to care for my cat for a few months until I can afford a home again in February. I dont want to give her away, but will if it means she wont go hungry. I cant stand the thought of losing her, but think a temporary foster could be the answer. She is spayed, has a chip, (and will soon be up to date on vaccinations thanks to Friends of KC Animals). She is not declawed, but has never clawed at furniture. She is housebroken and has never messed up anything. Loves to play and get attention. Her only bad habit is she wont eat unless I rub her belly. Do you know of anyone that could take care of my cat until I can get another place? I dont want to give her away, and would like to visit if possible. I promise I will pay back the favor if you can tell me what to do. Is there any possibility or option you know of? Thank you, Kevin H.
