Friends of St. Hyacinth Parish...some very good news to share with you! On Tuesday June 24th, a film crew visited our church to film a future episode of Extraordinary Faith for Eternal Word Television Network (EWTN). Extraordinary Faith is a monthly 30 minute television program that celebrates the beauty of classical Catholic sacred art, architecture, music, and liturgy. Saint Hyacinth was selected for the series because we occasionally host the Tridentine Latin Mass, and because our church is magnificent in its beauty. Saint Hyacinth is one of several churches that will be highlighted in this episode which is focusing on the Catholic churches of the Detroit area. The opportunity to spotlight our church is huge. Not only will this episode air nationally on EWTN, it will also have international viewership across the world. Never has St. Hyacinth Church had such exposure as it will in this episode. When queried about the selection of Saint Hyacinth, the show’s host Alex Begin said it was because of the extensive beauty of the interior church and its near perfect cleanliness and tidiness. The first reason speaks to our ancestors who helped design and beautify our church with their time and talents. The second reason speaks to the dedication of our pastors, self-giving parishioners and volunteers who work on keeping our church clean and tidy. The GENEROSITY of our parishioners and tireless COMMITMENT of our volunteers have been a blessing throughout the years. These keys to our success and longevity, along with Gods generous blessings upon us, explain why our little parish just keeps on going. This is something to celebrate! We will inform you when the episode airs which is scheduled for spring or summer 2015. For those of you interested in viewing an episode of Extraordinary Faith, a preview of the first two episodes can be seen here: https://youtube/watch?v=RVCkslBLs7Q Or, you can look up the next broadcast of Extraordinary Faith on EWTN here: https://ewtn A special thanks goes to Alex Begin who serves at the altar for our Tridentine Masses and is host of the show and to Rick at Downing’s Flowers & Gifts, Hoover Road in Warren who provided us a beautiful display of flowers for the High Altar for the filming. Rick provided the flowers “gratis” because he said we have such a beautiful church and as thanks to the St. Hyacinth parishioners who frequent his business. Thanks Rick!
