Friendship is a relationship of mutual affection (love) between two people that includes affection, sympathy, empathy, honesty, altruism, mutual understanding and compassion, enjoyment of each other’s company, trust, and the ability to be oneself, express one’s feelings, and make mistakes without fear of judgment from the friend. It can only go as deep as both partners are willing. It rewards us in diverse ways through conversation, improving our mood, and lifting our spirits.
