From 1845 to 1852, 1.5 million Irish immigrants came to the United States fleeing the British conscription of food, that left the Irish nothing to eat but the potato, which then failed from blight. All of the rest of the food was shipped to England while the Irish starved. It was not a famine so much as it was genocide. Today there are 30-60 MILLION Americans who can trace their ancestry back to Ireland. I am one of them. So when I see the absolute froth-mouthed furor over a few children refugees from Central America being denied entry, Im ashamed to BE American. In fact, any Irish descendant that DOESNT support open borders and a welcoming nation, is a traitor to what it means to be an American, and a traitor to his or her ancestry.
