Or you can purchase it from gibsonraglepublishing.weebly Excerpt: Chapter Three Samantha had fallen asleep shortly after eating. As she slept, a dream took her back to an earlier time. She was running again; only not down a highway like before. This time she was in the woods, on a gravel road. Her breath came in short gasps, she was totally exhausted. And then the sound of dogs barking in the distance ran a chill down her spine. She must keep running, for setting still meant death. She ran again, her legs feeling like jelly this time. She ran toward the creek; maybe she could lose her scent there. She knew the creek would be ice cold this time of year, but it was her only chance. Samantha ran deeper into the woods; always sloping downward toward the creek. She could hear the hounds; their barking had grown louder. They were nearer. As she ran toward the bottom of the gully below her, her foot caught on a tangled branch, tossing her face forward to the ground. A branch scraped at her face, causing a large scratch on her cheek; blood trickled down her face. She picked herself up, looking behind her to see if the dogs were near. Suddenly, the large brown hound appeared on the horizon at the top of the hill. His bark grew louder and he picked up his speed as he ran down the hill. I have to make it to the creek, Samantha’s mind screamed. The hounds were approaching fast, as she neared the creek she felt one grab her pant leg almost dragging her down. She could hear his horrible growl as it yanked at her trying again to pull her down; once its teeth grazed her leg, causing her to want to scream. But, somehow she fought it off; screaming would only bring Herb and the other hunters faster. When her feet reached the muddy bank of the creek she felt it sink deep into the cold sand. Water immediately ran into the indention; filling her shoes full of frigidly cold water, Samantha gasped. She waded further out into the water the level reaching her waist. The adrenaline running through her system, made the cold bearable. The dogs had stopped at the bank; they werent coming into the water. They just sat there like monster gargoyles waiting to pounce. And then she saw Herb making his way down to the gully. A shot rang, causing Herb to fall to the ground. Another shot rang, skidding across the water like a skipping rock. Samantha’s mind didnt have time to register what she had seen. As another shot rang out she dove deep into the rushing creek; causing her body to float down it like a ship being tossed in a tidal wave. She hadnt realized how deep the creek was this time of year. Her body slammed against a rock every little bit, causing her to scream with pain. “Chelsea, are you alright? Wake up, please!” Lance called. Samantha’s mind finally registered that someone was shaking her shoulder. She quickly opened her eyes; pulling away in fright.
