From Baptist World aid: Thank you so much for your generous support of our Middle East Crises Appeal. We’re so encouraged to see Christians around Australia praying, giving and learning about the crises in the region and we wanted to provide you with an update about how your prayers and financial support are reaching the ground in Northern Iraq. Working with Integral Alliance partner Medair, your support has enabled us to provide shelter, bedding essentials, hygiene and kitchen kits and emergency food rations to vulnerable families. Yet we are gravely concerned to read reports that in a little over a month the region will experience severe winter conditions impacting millions of Syrian and Iraqi refugees. We are also aware that the current Syrian crisis has meant that over half a million children are out of school, adding further suffering and loss of hope to what is already the worst humanitarian crisis in recent history. In addition to our life-saving work in the region, Baptist World Aid is now finding a partner that will provide education to Syrian refugee children. Through your generous giving we hope to bring not only an education but a sense of normalcy, routine and purpose back into these children’s lives. We look forward to keeping you informed about this project. Please continue to pray for stability in the region, for the work of organisations on the ground in preparation for winter and for wisdom for our government as they assess how they might best provide assistance and aid to the area.
