From Carlton Montgomery, Executive Director of the Pinelands Preservation Alliance: The Black Run Preserve is becoming an ever-more valuable resource for all of us who need to get out into nature from time to time. Still, there are some big challenges in maintaining the Preserve, keeping it clean and safe, and restoring damaged habitats. The Friends of the Black Run Preserve is doing a fantastic job leading this effort. Friends now has an important meeting with the new Evesham Township manager coming up on October 1st. Township officials have made clear they expect to see a big show of support from the public if we are going to get the active help Friends needs to improve public access and stop the dumping and abuse that continue to haunt the Preserve. The mayor and council members have also been invited to attend this meeting. I really hope you will come to the meeting to help Friends prove there is a strong constituency for this wonderful place! Even better, bring family and friends along, too. This is a key moment for the Preserve. The meeting is on Wednesday, October 1st at 7:00 pm at the Evesham Municipal Building. No need to reserve a space ahead of time!
