From Carolyn Baker “Have I not commanded you? Be strong and of good courage; do not be afraid, nor dismayed, for the Lord your God is with you wherever you go.” (Joshua 1:9) Prayer: As I took the time this morning to inquire of You – You showed up and helped me to understand that when I look for You, I will find You. You have given me the “faith to believe” - and You have taught me to listen to “Your still small voice.” You are showing me that I am as “close to You as I want to be.” You never retreat from me, even when I sometimes lag behind You, or even try to get ahead of You. Thank You that you are working in me teaching me how to stay strong in You. Even though I will not always “feel” Your Presence - You are nonetheless with me, growing in me the confidence to believe! I also understand that it is in these moments when I do not feel Your Presence that my greatest opportunity for growth often appears. It is all about faith and trust – learning how to rest in You, knowing that the greater my faith – the more I will learn to trust! I acknowledge that I do not always know how You are working in me, but I am confident You always have my back. I ask You today for the courage I need to follow You daily – even in the simplest things. You are faithfully challenging us to understand that Your provision is all linked to our being in the Presence of our God daily. The depth of Your love is expressed to me and through me, as I Live in Your Presence. The hope, joy and peace You give me, come from the provisions You grant me, as I go through the daily act of living. You are also teaching me that You are never really silent. You wait patiently for me to respond to Your call! Even when the darkness seems overwhelming, You are teaching me to not fear that darkness -because You have made it possible for me to see with Your eyes. You will always draw me out of the darkness and into the light, and help me to navigate the path through it! Oh, how You love me! To be strong in You has also taught me that my love for You is my greatest weapon. Even my flaws can be used by You to reveal the magnitude of Your love for me and for ALL mankind! Help all who will pray this prayer today to stay rooted in You. Teach them that they can never be taken from You. Your rod and Your staff will comfort them every day and in every situation. Help us to be fearless, strong, and courageous so that we can be used by You to encourage others. Your promises are true! There has never been a more glorious time to be used by You. If we have to go through the “wilderness” path for a season, I ask that You remind us often that You are on that journey with us – and we need not fear! We need Your wisdom, Your strength and courage – and we need to rest in the comfort You want to be for us as our Shepherd. We can confidently believe that You will never abandon us – even when we walk away from You! You are absolutely trustworthy – and we are Your children! To You be all the honor and the glory!
