From Dear President Obama Film: The largest fracking-related spill - TopicsExpress

From Dear President Obama Film: The largest fracking-related spill in Oklahoma happened in rural Kingfisher County last Monday -- though local media wasn’t alerted until Thursday – when 480 barrels (20,000 gallons) of hydrochloric acid, enough to fill an Olympic swimming pool, was accidentally dumped into an alfalfa field from the truck carrying it . The acid is used in the fracking process to clean wells and stimulate the flow of oil and gas. While news reports suggested the spill didn’t happen near water wells, our photographer Julie Dermansky was in the area near Hennessey, OK, and documented that the spill clearly happened near a creek that flows into the town’s water system. Heavy rains are threatening to push the runoff into nearby Turkey Creek, which flows into Hennessey’s water system.
