From Disqus feedback to the TC, today,. Raymond Philip: After seeing that this story hit your front page two days in a row I am left wondering if the Times Colonist had an agenda of its own in devoting this space to it? I listened to the CFAX interview with Mayor Atwell which clarified a number of things and will hopefully put this non-story to bed. What Im left wondering is why the reporter(s) that put this story together didnt advise the readers that Mayor Atwell was actually the one that contacted police to begin with? Instead it was left up in the air which perhaps made the story more salacious as it was left to surmise that some third party had called it in. Surely their source must have known who it was that called police to begin with, no? One can only surmise that the source was somehow involved in law enforcement, and thus was privy to the call. That would be the real story here as police are held to high standards of accountability when it comes to protection of privacy and freedom of information. Im confident that if there was something to report about the media would have been contacted by the investigating agency and your reporters wouldnt have had to get their information through their sources. Its time that people recognize that Mayor Atwell won the election. Voters spoke loud and clear with who they wanted to be Mayor and after listening to his interview with CFAX hes not going anywhere and would like to get down to the business of improving Saanich. Hoping the Times Colonist will find real news to report rather than this type of unidentified sourcereporting. Is it news or someones agenda?
