From Dr. Frank Sibbalds Journal, May 1876 WEDNESDAY 17 Fine day. Thunder & lightening during the night. Thermometer 45 to 55, Wind West’ly. I rode to the bush in the forenoon. Rode to Sutton in the afternoon, brought home the English mail. Letters from Susie & Miss Braddon. THURSDAY 18 beautiful day. Wind W.N.W. Ther. 45 to 68. Rode to the bush in the afternoon. Vegetation progressing rapidly, tree budding freely. The men took the boat down to the boat house. I fitted the sailing gear and had a fine sail with a good breeze. I visited the lime kiln before tea & gave old Sheppard a pair of shades as his eyes were getting bloodshot.
