From Eileen Marx, sharing her insight as Victors wife. This is for all of you who suffer along side of your spouse who is struggling with PTS(D). I know that living with your loved one who is affected by Past Trauma, not only affects them, There is collateral damage going on and possibly even causing current trauma on you and your children. I know very well the pain and extreme challenges you face and at times wonder, how long you will have to (put up) with the crazy behavior? I’ve also heard the advice of my love ones telling me “ I didn’t deserve this and I should get out”. One thing I can tell you is, I don’t believe that your spouse enjoys the torment they feel or behavior they are exhibiting, in fact, they probably hate the way they feel, respond and treat you, the one they love the most! They can’t help the way they feel if they have PTSD, they are being triggered by something out of their control. I’m not excusing their behavior, they are still responsible for how they respond, but to give them that, is important to help understand that when they do act crazy or out of control… It’s not really about you, it’s out of their control. This is why we are so motivated to get this new film “Triggered” completed and out. There are so many hurting people suffering with PTS(D), and medicating them, divorcing them and giving up on them doesn’t solve the problem. People with trauma need help! They need to know that there is Hope and their life is worth living for. I walked through my Victor’s healing with him, as hard as it was because I believed that healing was possible and that he was worth it. I can’t imagine giving up on our marriage and the man who God brought me to live our lives together as husband and wife.
