From Elizabeth May: Common Core is a real attempt to undermine - TopicsExpress

From Elizabeth May: Common Core is a real attempt to undermine public education and local control of education across the United States. The creativity of every district meets the need of that community. What works in my area might be different than what works in Sioux Falls. The way children learn is by teachers learning and sharing information through different models from different communities. As far as testing no matter what anybody says, tests drive curriculum they always have and always will. With Common Core now we are going to evaluate not only our children, but our teachers through the tests. Data driven philosophy is what scares me the most. And I havent even touch on the cost associated with Common Core. This is a experiment using children and Im not willing to take that risk. Can anyone actually claim they like the idea of government molding our children in what they think they should be. Just some food for thought..........
