From Florida Today: A study of how a proposed launch complex would affect part of the Merritt Island National Wildlife Refuge formally began Monday with the search for a contractor to perform the review. Charles Lee, director of advocacy for Audubon Florida, said he was concerned about the FAA’s lead role handling the environmental impact statement, or EIS. “Typically they are focused on suppressing or eliminating wildlife, as opposed to protecting the environment,” he said. “So having the FAA as the lead agency is in this EIS is certainly not particularly comfortable for us.”
