From Greece to Peru, from Canada to Brazil, from America to Taiwan. Arriving from all over the world, composers are ready to take part in the second edition of Composit New Music Festival. The 2013 engagement takes place in Rieti from July 3rd to 14th. The second edition of Composit New Music Festival occurs at the Varrone Foundation from July 3-14, 2013. This contemporary music festival brings together composers and performers from around the world, gathering in the territory of Rieit for this special event. After the success of the first edition held in 2012 in Villa Battistini in Contigliano, the Varrone Foundation will host this year’s event by providing its prestigious location in Largo San Giorgio where all events will happen during the Festival. Davide Ianni, Composit Artistic Director says, “Composit stems from the need to create a community of international artists, composers and performers, in the contemporary music field, so that through their own experiences and mutual exchange, allow for the birth of fusion and new creation. The Festival will bring everyone together in one location for an experience of musical excellence in Rieit, a place dear to me where I was born and where I took my first steps in my musical education, which then led to my career as a composer at Boston University, in the United States, where I currently work and live.” The Festival, self-produced and financed with the support of Sfir Brindisi, Alberto Arvalli & Associates, and Tec Energy, offers Rieti a significant cultural opportunity through the participation of composers and performers from five continents. This provides a unique opportunity to introduce and promote the offerings and beauty of the city of Rieti, a city that is one of a kind. The 12 day festival is dense, offering daily meetings, seminars and concerts to the twelve selected composers (the international competition selected from over fifty participants), with three internationally renowned composers/professor, Philippe Leroux, Josuha Fineberg and Davide Ianni in collaboration with Ensemble-in-Residence, L’Arsenal, who will work daily with and perform music composed by composers and professors for the occasion. The concerts, free and open to the public, will be held on the evenings of July 6, 7, 12, 13 and 14 July beginning at 9pm. This program consists of: Saturday, July 6, Maarten Stragier, classical guitar concert with music from the contemporary repertoire; Sunday July 7 Luca Piovesan, accordian concert; Friday, July 12 L’Arsenal Ensemble with compositions by Philippe Leroux and Joshua Fineberg; Saturday July L’Arsenale Ensmble will perform original compositions from six festival composers; Sunday July 14 L’Arsenal Ensemble performs original compositions by six festival composers.
