From Head Coach RJ Zeigler - Its a very sad day for the hockey community in our region. This afternoon I learned that Bill Elder, a long time volunteer for the Prince William Hockey Club and many other organizations, passed away this morning after battling cancer for 2 years. Bill was an incredibly kind and generous person who so many players and coaches in our community looked up to and learned from. I am forever grateful for all he and his family gave to advance the sport of hockey in our community, as well as the friendships forged by his kind-hearted nature. Thank you to Jim Fullem for passing on the news. Bill left the following message in folder to be shared at the appropriate time: Bill was diagnosed with Stage 4 renal cell carcinoma on December 21, 2012. On each day after that day, he was grateful for the advances in medical science and the dedication of the medical professionals that extended his opportunity to enjoy the life you love so much. He is particularly grateful for the support of Laurie, his wife, and his children, Will and Alexis. His pride in being a family with them was unbounded. In lieu of flowers, Bill asks that you consider donating to a worthy cause of your choice or to one of the following causes he supported: The American Shakespeare Center in Staunton, Virginia; Homes For Our Troops; The Metropolitan Washington Ear; The Prince William Hockey Club; or the Rails to Trails Conservancy. Jim Fullem spoke with Laurie and they are still working through funeral arrangements. Once known, we will pass them along. Please keep Laurie, Will Elder , and Alexis in your thoughts and prayers
