From Ian at all under one banner. Wonder what folks thought of the points Ian has raised here. Many identical to what I have increasingly been aware of being discussed within other groups that were original Yes Scotland Teams. Maybe just me but I am growing increasingly worried about the YES movement and the part we are playing in our struggle for independence. Before the referendum we were a united group and after the vote the general agreement was that we had to stay united to carry on, 45+ etc. My concern now is with the amount of infighting that is going on here on social media and also in the real world with people getting together to organise events and then falling out. The fighting seems to either be about politics or ego massaging. I really couldnt care less right now what somebodys politics are, I am very much left wing but will stand beside a conservative or anybody else IF they support independence for Scotland. We can discuss our different politics after we have gained it. That was always a point brought up before the vote so what has changed now? Too many people want recognition for their efforts rather than just doing their bit. If people pushing themselves forward is advantageous to independence then great I am all for it but not when it is for their own sense of importance or a chance they see for more than their 15 minutes of fame. Another thing while I am on a rant is that people are reacting to the obvious blair mcdougall trolls with their obvious attempts at splitting us up in the hope that we go back to the way things were and Scotland votes for the red tories again or at least anybody except the SNP or any other party that supports independence for Scotland. Thats the moans and my answers to them are relatively simple 1 Stick together ffs 2 Get out from behind your keyboards and on the streets but to encourage people to keep on doing that rallies have to be properly organised or people lose interest 3 Forget your own egos/politics, do whatever you can to contribute and work with others as a group not a collection of individuals. 4 Ignore the trolls and stirrers. Treat them as the jokes that they are. 5 Above all focus 100% on independence. Yes there are other serious and urgent issues out there but until we get our independence there is not a lot we can do about them. I have seen people who were big players before the vote becoming disillusioned partly because they are tired and partly because of the bickering that many groups have descended in to. I dont consider myself all that old just mid 50s but I am becoming worried that I will not see independence in my lifetime unless we pull together. Ian.
