From June 30 - July 5th, there have been 4 more heatstroke deaths to children in hot vehicles (bringing the 2013 total to 19 already!!). I have attached the link to the news stories here. We often think of kids being unintentionally forgotten in the vehicle but one of these cases involves a 2 year old that gained access to the vehicle while playing hide-and-seek. This is a good reminder to lock all cars and keep the keys up and out of reach. 1. A heatstroke death occurred on Saturday, June 29 on the Crystal Ridge Reservation in southern Winston County, Mississippi. While details are still sketchy, it seems the child was playing hide-and-seek with other children and climbed into the car. Article: wcbi/wordpress/child-dies-in-heat-related-accident 2. The second occurred on July 5 in Lansdowne, MD after a male relative failed to drop off a 16-month-old girl at her day care facility. The third occurred on July 5 in Alexandria, VA after an 8-month-old boy was left in a hot car while his mother was at work. The fourth is a possible heatstroke death that occurred on Friday, July 5 in Shreveport, LA. A 3-year-old girl was found dead after being left in a car for possible 19 hours. The details of the incident are still up in the air, but I wanted to alert you of the incident.
