From KCCR News: Cen-Kota Republican Women member, Pat Miller considering a run for Secretary of State in 2014. The current Deputy in the Secretary of State’s office says she may consider running for Secretary of State in the 2014 election. Pat Caldwell Miller says she is thinking about running for the job now that current Secretary of State Jason Gant announced this week that he will not be a candidate. Miller lost the nomination for the office to Gant at the 2010 state Republican convention. Miller has been the deputy in that office for more than a year. Before that, she had been the president of the South Dakota Heritage Fund, the non-profit partner to the South Dakota State Historical Society. Miller also served as South Dakota’s First Lady when her husband, Walter Dale Miller, was Governor in 993-1994. So far, there have been no official announced candidates for the Secretary of State position.
