From LSP, Troop D: TROOP D NEWS RELEASE Bomb Threat Closes I-210 Bridge; Arrest Made Lake Charles - On January 19, 2015, at 4:33 a.m., Louisiana State Police Troop D responded to a report of a vehicle fire on the Interstate 210 Calcasieu River Bridge just west of Lake Charles in Calcasieu Parish. Upon arrival, Troopers determined that the vehicle was not on fire. The driver and sole occupant, 24-year-old Jovani A. Galindo of Colton, California, indicated that there was a bomb in his vehicle. Traffic heading toward the bridge was diverted and vehicles already on the bridge were evacuated. The Louisiana State Police Emergency Services Unit responded and was assisted by the ATF and FBI as well as the Carlyss Fire Department. Because of the nature of the call, responders had to methodically evaluate the vehicle to determine if an explosive device was located in the car. Troopers and Agents determined that the vehicle did not contain an explosive device. The bridge was completely reopened just before 12:30 p.m. Galindo was arrested for Obstruction of a Highway of Commerce and Criminal Mischief. He was booked into the Calcasieu Parish Correctional Center. Bond was set at $12,500. The investigation is continuing.
