This bill would give parents the right to opt out of having their children’s private data shared with third party vendors. A. 6059A, which would require parental consent before any company could re-disclose private student data to 3rd parties, was also approved by the Assembly Education committee last night. Earlier in the session, Senator Grisanti introduced a similar bill to give parents the right to consent, S.4284 and this bill has robust bipartisan support. Now, we need you to call YOUR own Senator today, and ask them to urge the Senate to amend the Grisanti bill, S.4284, to match EITHER A.6059A or A.7872A, so that it can be brought to the floor of the Senate this session, which ends tomorrow.
