From Maryann Teejay: SPECIAL ED PARENTS, ESPECIALLY ASPERGER PARENTS, HELP! My daughters (age 10, 4th grade) three-year IEP Eligibility Review meeting is Tuesday morning, and we got the paperwork from their assessments. Its pretty clear to me they are going to recommend no more services for her. They are saying their assessments dont show any indications of Asperger Syndrome (!), and that while she may have anxiety or depressive issues or possible ADHD too, that they dont feel her school performance is currently affected by any disorder. Please tell me what to say and do when they tell me they no longer recommend services! I cant let this happen, I know personally of kids backsliding after this happens! Thanks.
