The cost for the Hairini Link, Central Corridor 4 -laning including the replacement of the Hairini Bridge, will exceed $100 million on its own in 2014 dollars. If the ratepayers are to become liable for meeting a 50% share of the cost, that will be in excess of $50 million. The original promise to complete the works included an estimate in 2008 dollars, to complete the project including the underpass for $100,000,000. The focus MUST be on the completion of the works, as that was the promise of John Key. The Central Corridor should remain a state highway, at least until the works are complete and the link is fit for purpose!
