From November 4 to 9, the Canadian Embassy in Berlin will share stories from #Canada and our team in connection with the events commemorating the 25th anniversary of the fall of the #Berlin Wall. We hope you enjoy our content and look forward to your feedback! #fotw25 #BerlinWall25 Canada’s Cold War Museum, the Diefenbunker, is marking the 25th anniversary of the fall of the Berlin Wall by staging three exhibitions under the title “25 | Berlin”: “Dictatorship and Democracy in the Age of Extremes: Spotlights on the History of Europe in the Twentieth Century” shows 190 rare photographs, newspaper clippings and political cartoons from different European archives. It tells the dramatic story of the 20th century between freedom and tyranny, democracy and dictatorship. The exhibition was conceived and produced by the Institute for Contemporary History in Munich, Deutschlandradio Kultur and the German Federal Foundation for the Reappraisal of the SED Dictatorship. “German Canadian Graffiti Jam: The Bunker Reunion” features a series of graffiti works created by Canadian and German artists in February to commemorate the fall of the Berlin Wall. The Embassy of Germany to Canada and the organizers of House of PainT, Ottawa’s biggest annual urban arts festival, invited the public to watch this graffiti jam. A photo installation entitled “The Wall, Niederkirchner Strasse” by Ottawa photographer Leslie Hossack is also on display. It captures a length of the Berlin Wall, simulating a walk along it. All three exhibitions marking the anniversary of the fall of the Berlin Wall will open at Diefenbunker in Carp, Ontario, on November 6 and can be visited until March 31, 2015. diefenbunker.ca/exhibitions/
