From Ogallala: Based on current information, the City of Ogallala believes that the South Platte River has crested and that the river level has maintained its current height of approximately 11.5 feet for several hours. Information indicates that the river has slightly receded at Big Springs and Brule. Based on that information, the City believes that the river at Ogallala may begin to recede slightly over the next several hours. Continued high water should be expected over the next several days. The City is experiencing backup of storm water at both East B and West B at or near the railroad. Citizens are advised to remain clear of any such backup. The City does not anticipate that the water backup will cause any significant damage. If you come into contact with flood water you are advised to immediately take steps to clean yourself of the flood water. There may be unknown contaminants in any flood water. Downtown businesses should remain vigilant and keep an eye out for any changing conditions.
