From RCCR: Sandy really enjoys affection and attention. When you sit down she often jumps up to place her paws on your knees so she can be petted. She really wants to come up beside you on the couch, and when riding in the car, will stare at you rather than look out the window. She has a fabulous recall This smart girl has learned about 8 commands (sit, down, stay, come, shake, spin, touch, go-to-bed) without much training. Sandy is very food-motivated, and could learn a lot more. Sandy sleeps in her crate and is very housetrained. She greets other dogs nicely, and presently lives peacefully with a cat. For a cattle dog, Sandy is pretty low energy. She gets 30 minute morning and evening walks, a short mid-day potty walk, and in-between she is happy to curl up and snooze. Even happier if its in a sunny spot. This is definitely a heat-loving dog. Did I mention that she is food-motivated? Mealtime is definitely her favorite part of the day, and she pretty much does Snoopys happy dance when we put down her food. Sandy showed some mild food resource guarding, and I would not recommend her for families with children under 7.
