From Senator Joe Donnelly: Thank you for taking the time to express your thoughts about the Keystone XL oil pipeline. I understand your concerns regarding the construction of the pipeline. I do, however, support its completion because it will strengthen our energy economy, which is critical to both Indianas and our countrys economic success and crucial to our national security. False. How does shipping dirty, highly polluting tar sands oil from Canada to ports on the Gulf Coast for export strengthen our energy economy? It does, however, add greatly to global warming (since it is likely that not all of that oil would otherwise be extracted) and endanger U.S. aquifers. Senator Donnelly adds that he voted to force approval of the pipeline irrespective of whether the State Department approved it. In other words, even if the State Department has to admit its too dangerous, Senator Donnelly wants the pipeline to go ahead.
