From Taylor Hamel TO ALL OF MY TREE FRIENDS: I am overwhelmingly sick and tired of seeing photos and videos of climbers/arborists/tree workers doing SHIT work! Its not just about proper pruning cuts... We are meant to be PROFESSIONALS who work in a TRADE. Wear HELMETS and SAFETY GLASSES and HEARING PROTECTION and CHAINSAW CHAPS! Chainsaw boots, even! DO NOT USE CHAINSAWS ONE-HANDED! DO NOT USE SPIKES/SPURS FOR PRUNING WORK! USE BOTH A CLIMBING LINE AND A POSITIONING LANYARD! TIE IN TWICE WHEN USING A CHAINSAW! ... and use a chainsaw lanyard. If you think you are some bad-ass, hot-shot... think again. Look around you. Take yourself outside of your immediate surroundings and explore the greater, international, professional arborist/tree worker community. We are professionals; tradespeople. Alright, rant over. Had to get that off my chest. Jeez, Ive seen some SHIT work on FB lately! P.S. I have definitely done my share of SHIT work over the years. I will, no doubt, do SHIT work again in the future for whatever stupid reason. However, I continue working hard to change and grow and better myself in this industry. STOP what you are doing, take a step back, evaluate and compare yourself to the greater community.
