From The Knitters Edge Facebook page, about my mom (more info available on their FB page)... Two months ago we lost Donna, a dear member of my Saturday morning knitting class, to liver cancer. Her sister in law, Loretta, is also member of that class. Donna was always a first volunteer to offer to knit for someone in need. Her disease progressed so quickly, we didnt have time to knit for her. But we wanted to knit something in her memory. After attending a recent charity meeting where I heard about the great need for warm weather wear for children in center city Allentown schools, we felt we had found our cause. We decided to knit kids hats in Donnas memory, and distribute them to kindergarteners in the inner city Allentown school where Donnas daughter teaches. This seemed so appropriate. We encourage everyone to join us in our fall charity knitting drive, and are offering a pool overflowing with Encore Worsted, and 4 free patterns for kids hats. We need about 160 hats to have one for every child. Distribution Target Date- Dec 1. Please join us in this endeavor. Bring your finished hats to The Knitters Edge. Please make mostly size 8-10. We are hoping the children will be able to wear these for awhile. 4 hat patterns are available: All worked in the round. I will add one more pattern- knit flat in Fridays newsletter. Donnas Hat A: Rolled Brim Donnas Hat B: Bibbed Bottom Donnas Hat C: All Ribbed Donnas Hat D: Crochet
