From Urgent Animals of Galveston County: In 2 days 40 animals were brought in to GCARC, 2 animals were adopted, and 29 were euthanized. I hope these numbers make you as sad as they make me. The shelter, while not perfect, is doing what they can to help these animals. However, when 40 are brought in it means that people are not spaying and neutering their pets. And when only 2 are adopted it means that the community is not looking at rescue for the first option when getting a new pet. Please. Spay. Neuter. Adopt. Advocate. Sponsor. Foster. Do anything you can to help make a difference...because these numbers are not ok. These statistics are posted on arcpets.org and I am copying them for your convenience and to raise awareness of what the numbers really are. I am posting them here as soon as arcpets.org gets them loaded so these posts are probably always going to be a few days behind. Statistics for 3/26/14: 27 ENTERED 20 Stray 2 Stray - After Hours 3 Seizure 1 Unwanted 1 Adoption Return 17 EXITED 1 Adopted 15 Euthanized 1 Return to Owner Statistics for 3/27/14: 13 ENTERED 13 Stray 20 EXITED 1 Adopted 14 Euthanized 2 Return to Owner 2 Rescued 1 Quarantine Return
