From Within Administration: HOW AND WHY WOULD SUSD BUILD - TopicsExpress

From Within Administration: HOW AND WHY WOULD SUSD BUILD ANOTHER SCHOOL AT COPPER RIDGE? We already have too large of a campus. And the 2015 Bonds Will Be Issued Only to Build Elementary Schools, if they are passed, right? ANSWER: By Building ANOTHER K-8 Campus at Copper Ridge Where A K-8 Already Stands. This is so crazy we had to read it more than once before it sank in. Yes, SUSD actually plans to build ANOTHER K-8 at Copper Ridge. How crazy is that? ISSUE: In 2009 SUSD Exercised the option to purchase another 19 acres of land from DMB Associates at the Copper Ridge Complex. 2nd ISSUE: Unless SUSD builds a school on that additional 19 acres within the time limit allowed, DMB can retake possession and deed to the land. 3rd ISSUE: DMB has supported Charters in Mesa/Gilbert areas. SUSD would die a thousand deaths if it had to give that land back to DMB only to see it turned in to a BASIS campus. 4th ISSUE: SUSD plans to float a Bond in 2015 for the construction of Elementary Schools. 5th ISSUE: You cant build a High School at Copper Ridge with funds raised to construct Elementary Schools, and a building has to go up fast or we give the land back to DMB and a Charter springs up next to Copper Ridge so . . . . . . . . . . . So you dont build a High School on that 19 Acres. You build ANOTHER K-8 -- where the Biggest and Most Beautiful K-8 in SUSDs portfolio already sits half empty, we will build another Bigger and more Beautiful campus. And -- SUSD will then convert the existing K-8 Campus to a High School. Sound crazy? Yes - Yes it does. Is it the plan? Yes - Yes it Is. Dont take our word for it. Read for yourself. This is why SUSD is hell bent for leather to float $185 M of Bonds next year. And why Dr. Peterson is already more focused on Capital Bonds than the Override. We are a District of the Contractors, By The Contractors and For the Contractors. YES to Contractors. susd.schoolfusion.us/modules/groups/homepagefiles/cms/394763/File/Board%20Meeting%20Documents/04_07_09/2009-04-07.pdf?sessionid=faca009ac7ce85c85201a291418504ee
