From a logical stand point, a person who has spent his entire life - TopicsExpress

From a logical stand point, a person who has spent his entire life never having a real relationship with God but finally forming one would expect those closest to him (who profess the same belief) to rejoice in his spiritual growth. That sort of logic just seems like it would make sense. So why is it that walking closer to God often causes division from those you love the most? One reason is those who have previous knowledge of the person he was will likely continue to view him as the same person they had grown accustom to. That makes them more closed minded when it comes to receiving anything from him in the way of spiritual guidance. If he holds firm to his stance on living for The Lord, he can expect to get the so you think youre better than me or I remember when you use to response merely by trying to live a better life. satan loves bringing up the past as a way to trick you into revisiting it because he has no clue what your future holds. On a deeper level, a bright light has just been introduced into an atmosphere that has been saturated with nothing but darkness. Now, whatever has been living in the darkness has 3 options: adjust to the light, flee from the light, or try to extinguish the light... You can spend your entire life with a person and not know what has been cohabiting with their own spirit within their flesh. If something dark has found a suitable host and established itself, its not going to be evicted without a fight. And whatever it is (demon, spirit, principality), its going to try to terminate your light before it is allowed to intensify in power. Make up your mind that you will not let your light be extinguished, stand boldly on your foundation of Christ Jesus, and let Him fight that battle. Dont be naive enough to believe that just because someone is a family member, theres no threat there. Dont forget, Cain killed Abel. -------------------------------------------- Then He went out from there and came to His own country, and His disciples followed Him. And when the Sabbath had come, He began to teach in the synagogue. And many hearing Him were astonished, saying, “Where did this Man get these things? And what wisdom is this which is given to Him, that such mighty works are performed by His hands! Is this not the carpenter, the Son of Mary, and brother of James, Joses, Judas, and Simon? And are not His sisters here with us?” So they were offended at Him. But Jesus said to them, “A prophet is not without honor except in his own country, among his own relatives, and in his own house.” (Mark 6:1-4 NKJV) For the word of God is living and powerful, and sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing even to the division of soul and spirit, and of joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart. (Hebrews 4:12 NKJV) “Do not think that I came to bring peace on earth. I did not come to bring peace but a sword. For I have come to ‘set a man against his father, a daughter against her mother, and a daughter-in-law against her mother-in-law’; and ‘a man’s enemies will be those of his own household.’ He who loves father or mother more than Me is not worthy of Me. And he who loves son or daughter more than Me is not worthy of Me. (Matthew 10:34-37 NKJV) He who believes in Him is not condemned; but he who does not believe is condemned already, because he has not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God. And this is the condemnation, that the light has come into the world, and men loved darkness rather than light, because their deeds were evil. For everyone practicing evil hates the light and does not come to the light, lest his deeds should be exposed. But he who does the truth comes to the light, that his deeds may be clearly seen, that they have been done in God.” (John 3:18-21 NKJV)
