From being born in a small hamlet of Changelakha, Rongeli, East Sikkim ..studies and travels took me to many countries across the globe but I always touched base as I believed in the beauty of the Sikkimese peoples’ hearts. In late 90’s I returned home to be with my father. Sikkim has always been home to me , never ever doubted my intention of settling here in Gangtok. Despite being the daughter of my father, my family (except for a few zealous officers trying to please the one in power) have never been harassed . In fact , I have been given an equal opportunity like any other in the form of loan that was sanctioned by the HCM . We have been allowed to live a dignified life . But this year, I saw the ugliness that lurks behind seemingly friendly , educated people ..... many have commented earlier, Sikkim “murda haru ko rajya ho, aama roopi desh bechuwa haru baschan yehan” . I have not seen many people take a stand in life so was pleasantly surprised when a lady started writing relentlessly , providing news to thousands through her page. She was receiving appreciation from the so called krantikaris (change seekers) n brick bats from the rest. As election approached, venom spilled and I was ashamed to even read what was being written. Never imagined that my fellow Sikkimese could stoop so low to gain personal favours. I am certain that no one in their right mind would ever approve of the filth that came out in the name of politics to tarnish and single out a lady. For someone like me who had always advocated and maintained that politics should be fought based on the party’s ideologies n the vision of the leader... it was a rude awakening call. I strongly object to the “kirtey parchas” that find a way into our homes polluting our society . With the closure of the page which had garnered over 25 k viewers , I am left questioning myself... Am I being an emotional fool and doing the right thing by giving up vast opportunities outside to live in Sikkim? Is this the society I want to live behind for my son and you to your children? ? Nari lai Durga, Saraswati , Laxmi ra Aama bhanera eka patti shraddha garchau bhaney , arka patti tehi nari lai yesto ghrinit sabdako vajrale prahar garera nanguaunu k yo hamro purush pradhan samaj lai suhaucha ?? People please go get a life ! It’s a beautiful world ..stop this verbal /written assault against your own people. Malai Sikkim Maan Parcha !!
