From my Monday morning Google searching of my name (which I recommend most authors NOT DO unless youve got skin like a rhino) I found this good honest review, and I thought this bit was particularly awesome, and as a writer who sees himself as an entertainer first and foremost, and my ultimate goal is to make readers happy, this makes my tiny black heart proud: inverarity.livejournal/246838.html Serious literature or deathless prose this is not. But its awfully damn fun and yes, for an alt-history superhero novel, well-written: fast-paced, plotty, and full of interesting characters who are actually characters. I enjoyed it even more than the first two books. So, I find myself conflicted about this book being on the Hugo list. Because heres the thing: do I think its objectively a better book than Neptunes Brood or Ancillary Justice? Not really. But unquestionably, of all the Hugo nominees, it is the novel I enjoyed reading the most.
